Why should you take breaks at work occasionally ?
When was the last time you took a break from your work? Here, I am not talking about your recreational break, I am talking about ‘micro/macro-breaks’ or ‘Self-reflection’ breaks.
A lot of people often feel guilty about occasional or frequent breaks from work. As you think beyond a point it will give the impression that you are a frivolous bring used to your comforts. But that’s not how this equation works always.
Sometimes breaks are the answers to all the day-to-day stress people go through.
Studies show that time off helps you to be more productive in your work. Psychologist Deborah Serani says, “Our brains are not machines that can work endlessly without a glitch”.
How does it feel when you take a micro-break from your brainstorming sessions at work? Didn’t you feel more settled, rejuvenated, and cleared to restart again?
Everyone has a different level of stress-handling capacity. When there is no time left for yourself in your mundane routine mini breaks work best.
They allow you to clear your head of all the unnecessary trash you have been carrying in your head for a long. Maybe trash was the reason for your low performance at work or a reason to stay isolated from your family members.
Well, this is not the only primary reason for taking breaks. Multiple benefits can enhance your productivity at work double folded.

These micro and macro breaks have tremendously helped me discover a lot of truths and unnecessary patterns of my behavior at work. And have given me a fair amount of clarity to move ahead peacefully.
Benefits of taking breaks at work :

- Each time I take a break from any rigorous task apart from feeling rejuvenated breaks has allowed me to bring in different perspectives at work.

- Many times it has helped me gather my broken self to restart again with equal zeal and interest whenever I have failed in my attempts to experiment with something new.
- They have also helped me guard my emotional well-being by reducing stress in day-to-day life. Allowing me to handle one day at a time.
- It has reduced the gap between work-life balance and often given me a sense of fulfillment as a human being.
- It has allowed me to self-reflect, think deeper and solve the root causes of all problems.
- It has helped me declutter my mind of old trash and pending work which has been holding me back from working peacefully.
- It has enhanced my creativity and doubled my productivity at each level.
- I feel like a more solution giver and not a problem in the process.
- The best part of all is the amount of clarity it gives in each break is like unfolding puzzle of your own life 1 piece at a time and1 break at a time.
Breaks in life be it in personal or professional, are a must. What is even more important is having micro and macro breaks while you are working or following mundane routines regularly. May be this could be one of the solutions to tackle fast life sustained stress which has turned into a lifestyle diseases today.
Next time if you feel guilty to take frequent breaks, think what your mind needs at that particular moment. Each person has different levels of capacity to take work pressure. Do not compare yourself to others. Because you know your mind better then others.
